Approval of the name Palestine in the International Atomic Energy Agency

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that it will continue its work to reach full membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency, welcoming the lifting of the State of Palestineโs membership in the Agency.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by โPALYOUTHโ today, Thursday, after the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in its 67th session, approved a draft resolution entitled โThe Status of Palestine in the International Atomic Energy Agency.โ
According to the statement, the draft resolution submitted by the Arab Republic of Egypt on behalf of the sponsoring countries included adopting the designation of the State of Palestine and granting it more privileges and rights.
The resolution received a majority vote of 92 countries, with 21 countries abstaining from voting and only 5 countries opposed.
The Foreign Ministry affirmed its continued work to consolidate all the privileges due in order to reach full membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Austria and its permanent representative to the International Agency, Ambassador Salah Abdel Shafi, thanked the countries that voted in favor of the resolution, calling on the countries that rejected the resolution to review their positions and respect the resolutions of international legitimacy.
