Palyouth The Israeli occupation authorities announced the continued closure of the Beit Hanoun crossing with the Gaza Strip, thus preventing thousands of workers from reaching their jobs in the occupied territories, today, Thursday.
Local economic experts reported that this step prevents more than 18,000 Palestinians from crossing to work, depriving the economy in the besieged Strip of about two million dollars per day.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Labor in Gaza, Ayman Abu Karim, said that 8,000 workers who returned to Gaza during the Jewish holiday season cannot return to their work inside the occupied territories due to the closure.
Abu Karim added that closing the crossing is a collective punishment to deprive workers of the money they need to improve their families’ living conditions.
