Led by Dr. Mohammad Kloub, the medical team performed, for the first time in Palestine, a catheterization procedure with carbon dioxide (CO2) imaging. The patient had lost his left leg a few months ago in another hospital due to the inability to perform a peripheral catheterization, resulting from his kidney issues. Gangrene had developed in his right leg due to arterial insufficiency.

The medical team, including Professor Mohammad Kloub, peripheral catheterization and interventional radiology specialist Dr. Mohammad Matar, and peripheral catheterization and interventional radiology specialist Dr. Maher Al-Za'anin, discussed the patient's case. They prepared and equipped for this emergency catheterization procedure and used carbon dioxide during the operation because it has no adverse effects on kidney function when used correctly.

Dr. Kloub stated in a press release that a major artery below the knee was successfully opened with no side effects, and the catheterization was performed. The patient was discharged from the hospital on the second day to continue his treatment.

It's worth noting that the procedure was performed urgently at the Jerusalem Hospital, affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza City, where Jerusalem Hospital provides significant services complementary to the Ministry of Health's medical teams.

Dr. Kloub expressed his gratitude to the doctors and specialists involved in the procedure, especially Dr. Mohammad Matar, the interventional radiology consultant. He also thanked Dr. Younis Al-Khatib, the president of the Red Crescent Society, and Dr. Bashar Murad, the executive director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza.
