The Israeli authorities have renewed the administrative detention order for the Palestinian detainee Mustafa Hussein Bani Odeh, 48, from the town of Tamoun, for the fourth consecutive time.
In a statement issued today, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club noted that Mustafa Bani Odeh was arrested on May 30, 2022, and was subsequently placed under Israeli administrative detention. This means he is held without formal charges or trial.
The statement further revealed that Mustafa Bani Odeh has been subjected to multiple detain in the past, with his first encounter with detention dating back to 1987. In 1992, he spent a year in the Israeli prisons, followed by a five-and-a-half-year period from 2005. In 2021, he began facing administrative detention, and as of now, he has spent a total of approximately nine years in detention, including three years under administrative detention.
It is worth noting that Mustafa is married and a father of four children. Tragically, he lost his son, Mamoun (18 years old), who is currently under current administrative detention, in December of the past year. The Israeli occupation authorities have denied him the opportunity to bid farewell to his son.
As of August 2023, the number of Palestinian administrative detainees has reached 1,264, including 20 children and four female detainees.
